Leo Valk

Leo (they/them) is a passionate yoga teacher with a 200-hour certification earned in 2018 under the guidance of Anne Falkowski in Manchester, Connecticut. Leo started their yoga journey in 2012 and established a regular practice in 2014. Leo brings a wealth of experience and dedication to their teaching. With a strong background in mental health activism, they have worked alongside organizations like Toivo and Advocacy Unlimited in New Britain, CT, and served as a crisis counselor for the international Crisis Text Line. In their work with Toivo, Leo presented at the Alternatives Conference in 2017 on the power of contemplative practices in supporting mental health, as well as creating the first peer-based LGBT support group of its kind in the state. Leo is trained in and deeply committed to trauma-informed yoga. Through their studies at Three Queens Yoga, they have developed training programs in trauma-informed approaches, aiming to create inclusive spaces for individuals with diverse needs. As a student of the Three Queens 300-hour program, Leo harnesses the transformative power of yoga to manage their own chronic pain and illnesses, including fibromyalgia, POTS, hormonal imbalances, PTSD, and migraines. With a vision of promoting yoga accessibility beyond traditional studio settings and advocating for a more just world through yoga and activism, Leo seeks to inspire and empower others on their wellness journey.
